]]>Stygghøin Mt. (the highest of its 3 peaks is 1858m./6096ft.) rising from the summer morning fog. Dørålen, NE Rondane National Park, Norway. June 2012.

The night before I worked out this composition in pouring rain, but finally had to give up setting up my gear in the wet conditions. I had little hope of any good light the next morning, but headed out 3 in the morning anyway, and later on, my sore eyes eventually found peace. This photograph was made on a trip I made to celebrate Rondane Nat. Park`s 50th anniversary.

An hour before sunrise, a subtle glow (alpen glow) on snow-covered peaks can be even more beautiful than the actual sunrise. An early snowfall suprised the yellow autumn birches which made a spectacular environment to photograph.

Nocturnal Mountain Meditation

This was exposed near to midnight before a climb up Vinjeronden Mountain (2044 m./6706 ft.). It was relatively dark in the valley and no colors could be seen. Due to a long exposure (115 sec.) the camera revealed the subtle, warm light of the sun, sleeping behind the mountains.

This is the same subject, with a different angle, as Pond Of Reflection, which was made the morning after when I descended Vinjeronden, hence the difference in light characteristics.

Dørålen - Every Moment Counts

On one of the last days of visible autumn foliage in Dørålseter Valley. The strong wind was cold at sunrise, but something spectacular was about to happen that made me forget all about the wind.
As the absolute first morning light found a small opening between clouds and heavy morning fog it illuminated these snowcapped peaks in a way I`ve never before have witnessed. The thick fog partly obscured another mountain in the background which I think enhanced the mood and simplicity of this photograph.

It was a cold and foggy mountain morning, the kind of moist and frosty cold that I love about autumn.
At dawn, before sunrise, the subdued autumn colors and beautiful silence became a setting in which I found myself blessed to be a part of.
It was this feeling of blessed solitude that led me to discover a number of subtle subjects that often are left unseen when we are situated in a mountain range with beautiful mountains, just waiting to be admired.
